About us
The literary world of both Oxford and Cambridge is a veritable mine. Tapping into this, we offer tours exclusively focusing on literature - and by extension, philosophy and history. Our guides are passionate about ideas. Take your pick between a general tour, or one more specific.
To name only a few, Oxford’s literary heritage boasts the Inklings - JRR Tolkien, CS Lewis, and more - Lewis Carroll, the author of Alice in Wonderland, as well as such epoch-changing figures as Oscar Wilde, and TS Eliot. Others include Philip Pullman, the contemporary author of His Dark Materials, and Aldous Huxley, who revolutionised Dystopian literature.
Cambridge is home to the likes of Virgina Woolf and EM Forster - both pioneers of the modernist movement - Lord Byron, the creator of the Romantic hero - and, going back further still, to John Milton, the great writer of Paradise Lost, and Christopher Marlowe, of Doctor Faustus. Others include Bertrand Rusell, the great philosopher and political activist of the 20th century, and Sylvia Plath, author of The Bell Jar.
